Policies & agreement
The plain-language version of how bookings, cancellations, and liability work. A full written service agreement is signed at your meet & greet — this page is a reference, not a substitute for it.
Meet & greet required
Every new client starts with an in-person meet & greet before any paid booking. This lets us confirm your dog is comfortable with a new walker and flag anything relevant for a multi-dog or on-leash setting.
Cancellations
We commit to 2-hour notice for new bookings — please extend us the same courtesy. Cancellations made with less than 2 hours' notice are billed at 50% of the scheduled walk's price. No-shows (we arrive and can't access the dog) are billed in full.
Weather
Walks go on rain or shine — Portland weather is part of the job, and dogs generally handle it better than people expect. In genuinely unsafe conditions (extreme heat, ice, air quality alerts), we'll reach out to reschedule or substitute a shorter, gear-appropriate outing rather than cancel outright.
Access to your home
We'll agree on an access method at your meet & greet — a lockbox code, smart lock code, or a key held on file. Whatever it is, let us know before your first booking.
Payment
Payment is Venmo or cash, arranged directly with you after each walk or as a standing weekly total for recurring clients. Recurring-discount and multi-dog pricing are detailed on the pricing page. Holiday bookings are a flat $75 regardless of time of day.
Liability & insurance
PDX Dog Time is licensed, insured for pet care liability, and pet first-aid/CPR certified. In the rare case of an injury, illness, or incident during a walk, we'll contact you and your listed vet immediately and cover reasonable emergency care costs up to what our policy provides — this is spelled out in full in the written agreement signed at your meet & greet.
Dog behavior & safety
We rely on the temperament and medical notes you provide in your dog's profile to plan a safe walk — please keep these current, especially anything about reactivity, aggression, or medical conditions. We reserve the right to pause service if a dog's behavior poses a safety risk to itself, other animals, or people, and will always talk to you directly first.
